I love using essential oils, BUT I am very aware of their medicinal quality. This is why I believe this particular video is very important to see!
By the way, my personal favorite essential oils are frankincense, lemon, rosemary, and peppermint.
You CAN be allergic to an essential oil. My daughter is allergic to the Thieves blend. It is a great immunity boosting blend, but unfortunately my daughter broke out with hives after using it, so we avoid it.
As the popularity of using rice water for hair increases, there is growing anecdotal evidence about its benefits. But are the claims scientifically proven?
At first glance, a 2010 paper suggests they may be. The authors note that rice water may reduce surface friction and increase hair elasticity. However, the study relies on historical examples to draw unsupported conclusions.
Elsewhere, a research facility in Japan has developed an imaging technique that visualizes the strengthening effect of inositol on hair. Inositol is contained in rice water.
It is important to note that this research is published directly by a facility that may have commercial interests.
To date, the benefits of rice water for hair remain unproven. More research is needed to support anecdotal evidence about the benefits of rice water for hair.
There are several different ways to make rice water, including
Soaking is the quickest way to make rice water.
To use this method:
take ½ cup of uncooked rice
place rice in a bowl with 2–3 cups of water
leave to soak for 30 minutes
strain the rice water into a clean bowl
Fermented vs. plain rice water
Some rice water advocates claim fermented rice water has more benefits than plain rice water.
According to a 2012 study, fermented substances have a higher amount of antioxidants. Antioxidants may combat hair and skin cell damage, which is why they are typical ingredients in beauty products.
To ferment rice water, follow steps 1–4 of the soaking method. Before straining, leave the rice water to stand at room temperature for up to 2 days, allowing it to ferment. Strain the rice water into a clean bowl before use.
Another way to make rice water is by boiling the rice.
Cover ½ cup of rice with double the water typically used for cooking. Cook the rice in boiling water and strain the rice water into a clean bowl before use.
I add 4 drops of Rosemary essential oil to my rice water. I LOVE this formula! Naomi McCollough
From the beginning of recorded history, essential oils have been prized for their beauty enhancing, medicinal, spiritual, aromatic and therapeutic value. This article will describe the history of essential oils in various parts of the world.
Essential oils are best stored in dark glass containers. Stainless steel water bottles can be used as well. Why? Essential oils can eat away at the plastic or degrade it.
#2 Diffuser instructions
If using a cold-water diffuser, check your water well size. Most 4 hour diffusers have a 100-200 mL water fill-line capacity. You only need to use 4-6 drops per 100 mL of water, or 2-3 drops per hour of run time.
#3 Balance and Support
Essential oils help to balance and support our bodies. If you are not making the right choices in your diet, exercise, or habits, essential oils will not be able to do their job to their fullest.
#4 Caffeine addiction
If you have a caffeine addiction with coffee, you can detox from it with an essential oil regimen that will only take about 2 weeks. Ask me, and I will let you know about the regimen!
Do not use essential oils rich in menthol such as Peppermint on the throat or neck area of children under 30 months old.
Keep essential oils away from your eyes. If the oils get into your eyes, sooth with a drop of vegetable oil, NOT water.
Epileptics and those with high blood pressure should consult their health care professional before using some essential oils.
Pregnant or nursing women should consult their health professional before using essential oils.
#9 Blood thinners/ Circulation
While essential oils will not interact with blood thinners, some will have a similar effect as blood thinners, so be aware of those oils. With Young Living, the oils that may cause increased circulation would be the internal use of Peppermint, Wintergreen, and Oregano. There are some oils pointed out to avoid because of their coumarins. Others are singled out due to their excitable nature. The simple fact is that oils with coumarin or oils that can increase your energy are not a major problem when used as directed. Remember though that each person responds differently, so be your own best advocate and pay attention to your body.
#10 Blood pressure
Essential oils do not lower or raise blood pressure in any major way. Essential oils can help to dilate arteries, but usually in such small amounts that you won’t notice it on your doctor’s charts. Again, remember each person responds differently, so be your own best advocate and pay attention to your body.
